The Damien Museum, Waikiki, Hawaii
The Damien Museum really needs help if it is ever going to reopen. Pictures, artefacts, personal memorabilia and the two-room building itself are in dire need of repair, restoration and preservation.
Volunteers of all skills are most welcome and Donations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support and interest in the Damien Museum . We hope to see you there soon.

who made the most extraordinary moral choices
again and again and again." Gavan Daws
Inside the St. Philomena Church
St. Philomena Church: Father Damien had carved holes in the floor to accomodate one of the manifestations of leprosy: the uncontrollable accumulation of mucus which had to be spit out to clear diseased nasal passages. A funnel-shaped leaf acted as a spittoon.
Father Damien would later crawl underneath the church to unclog the holes.
