Hours & Tours

Sadly, the Damien Museum has been CLOSED to the public since 2001.

In the meantime, St. Augustine by the Sea Catholic Church, at 130 Ohua Ave in Waikiki, will display several of Father Damien's memorabilia.

For more information, contact Father Lane.

The Damien Museum really needs help if it is ever going to reopen. Pictures, artefacts, personal memorabilia and the two-room building itself are in dire need of repair, restoration and preservation.

Volunteers of all skills are most welcome and Donations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support and interest in the Damien Museum . We hope to see you there soon.

St. Philomena Church: Father Damien had carved holes in the floor to accomodate one of the manifestations of leprosy: the uncontrollable accumulation of mucus which had to be spit out to clear diseased nasal passages. A funnel-shaped leaf acted as a spittoon.

Father Damien would later crawl underneath the church to unclog the holes.
